Can I update from VTS 8 to VTS 10?

Yes, you can update from older VTS 8 versions to VTS 10. Please follow the instructions provided here and review the limitations listed below.

1) How to update to VTS 10?

  • Check which VTS version you are currently using (see: Supported VTS versions).

  • Make sure your PC meets the system requirements.

  • Consider the limitations listed below.

  • If you are using VTS 8.27, 8.28, 8.29, or 8.30, you can update directly to VTS 10.

  • If you are using VTS 8.26 or earlier, you must first update to VTS 8.30 before updating to VTS 10.

2) What limitations should I consider before updating?

VTS 10 introduces a modernized technical foundation and removes some outdated or rarely used functionality. Please review the following changes before updating:

  • Administration client: The legacy administration client with the grey user interface is no longer available. Some configuration settings can still be accessed through a separate desktop tool, which is available under Settings → Advanced configuration.

  • Discontinued tests: Most discontinued tests (older tests no longer included in SCHUHFRIED’s actively maintained product portfolio) are now no longer supported or can only be used with significant limitations. Existing test results from such discontinued tests will generally remain viewable after an update to VTS 10. Check the availability of your tests in the SCHUHFRIED Marketplace before updating. If the test is no longer listed in the Marketplace, it is no longer part of the actively maintained product portfolio. Suitable successor tests are available, and our sales team can help you select an alternative.

  • Tests with limited configuration: INSBAT, IBF, and INSSV-R can still be administered in VTS 10, but their configuration wizards (“extended options”) are no longer available. These tests will continue to work as part of existing test batteries, but their configuration cannot be changed in VTS 10.

  • Changed security levels: Security level 3 is merged into security level 2. VTS 10 therefore provides three security levels instead of four in VTS 8. For details see: Security levels of VTS users.

  • CSV result imports: Test results can no longer be imported in CSV format.

3) What can I do if I cannot update to VTS 10 or if the limitations prevent me from using VTS 10?

You can continue using VTS 8.30, which will be supported until March 2029.
